The American Automobile Association (AAA) is a national organization that acts as an umbrella for 81 regional auto clubs with 45 million members in the United States and Canada.  The Association has gotten into the insurance business, selling auto insurance along with homeowner's coverage, life insurance, annuities, flood insurance and renter's insurance.

AAA will provide a quote online for car insurance in the areas they serve. Their claim service is provided either by an 800 line or by walking into one of their offices.  In order to buy a policy however, you must be a member of the Association. Sales are handled through the local club's offices.  In California, for example, the car insurance is sold by the California State Auto Association Group.
