SOS Insurance
SOS is an online insurance broker licensed to operate in the state of California. It is essentially an online insurance agent. SOS online provides car insurance, homeowners and renters insurance, health and life coverage and a variety of business oriented insurance policies including vehicle fleet coverage and workers compensation.
SOS online will provide you a quote for insurance coverage after you respond to their prompted questionnaire. The quote may come from any one of the fifty insurance companies they represent. They do provide some excellent guidelines about what will be required in the course of seeking an online quote: your vehicle VIN number, loan or lease information, driver’s license number, and so forth. SOS has a 24-hour help line for questions. You can send a request for claim support on the web, but it is not a claim form. It is simply a request to have an SOS representative contact you.
SOS offers the following standard auto insurance policy components:
- Liability for bodily injury:
This element covers your responsibility for injuries to the other party in an accident, should the accident be your fault.
- Liability for property damage:
This covers costs for damages done to the other motorist’s vehicle, if you area at fault in an accident.
- Personal injury coverage:
This is coverage for your personal injuries and usually for the occupants of your car in an accident where you are at fault.
- Uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage:
This component of a car insurance policy provides coverage for you, your passengers and your vehicle should the other party be at fault in an accident and carry inadequate insurance.
- Collision:
This is coverage for the damage to your car in an accident in which you are at fault.
- Comprehensive:
This catch-all element of a policy covers damage to your car resulting from occurrences other than an accident: a fallen tree limb, fire, a windstorm, a break in, etc.
- Medical payments coverage:
Similar to personal injury coverage, this clause provides payments for medical costs, for you and your passengers, that your health insurance may not cover or in situations where other policy coverage limits have been exceeded.
You may be eligible for a discount if you: insure more than one vehicle under the same policy, are a homeowner, have recently taken a defensive driver course, have anti-theft devices installed on your car, have safety equipment installed, have multiple lines of insurance through the same company, or are a good student.
